Departure at 08:30 from San Vincenzo towards Elba Island. Elba is the largest of the Tuscan Archipelago islands and the third in Italy (223 km2); it is part of the Tuscan Archipelago National Park, renowned for its beaches and for having hosted Napoleon Bonaparte during his exile (1814–1815).
Arrival at Porto Azzurro at about 10:00 (stepover of 1h 30m). After disembarking from the motor ship, it is possible to visit the village once called Porto Longone. You can walk through the historic settlement by the seaside and have the opportunity to visit the exteriors of the Spanish fortress of San Giacomo where you can admire splendid views of the Gulf of Porto Azzurro.
11:30 am: departure with the motorboat towards Marciana Marina. Arrival at 13:15 (stop of 2h 30m); walking along via del porto you can admire the splendid Torre degli Appiani (Appiani's tower).
The Appiani were the lords of Piombino who controlled this side of Elba Island in the 15th and 16th centuries. It is advisable to visit the medieval fishermen's quarter called Cotone, a place characterized by small houses built directly on the rocks, very similar to the villages of 5 Terre (near Genoa).
Free time for lunch. We recommend Bar Caffè "Il Tempo", which offers Brunch and Light Lunches with a wide assortment of salads, bruschetta, sandwiches as well as the special of the day.
After lunch, meeting at the port to embark for the last leg of the tour of the island, Portoferraio. Arrival at 16:30 (stop of 1h 30m). Free visit of the village and to the Villa dei Mulini di Napoleone.
Historical and artistic tour of the capital of Elba Island, structured as a fortress city. The greatest architects of military structures helped to create an impregnable city, both from land and by sea; Cosimo I de'Medici orders were very clear: I want an impregnable city, capable of resisting any pirate attack and its name will be Cosmopoli.
From here you can reach the Villa dei Mulini, residence of the Emperor Napoleon Bonaparte, full with antique furniture and surrounded by beautiful gardens overlooking the lighthouse of Forte Stella. Departure at 18:00 for San Vincenzo, with expected arrival time around 19:30.
Any guided excursions can be booked directly on board of the ferry with the Tourist Guide.
Advice: hat, sunscreen, water, hiking shoes or simple sneakers.
