Departure at 08:15 from San Vincenzo towards Portoferraio. Portoferraio was built in 1548 on the ruins of ancient Fabricia (this was the name by which the ancient Romans called the city). The Roman influences are still visible in the remains of the villas of Grotte and Linguella.
The most important fortification works in the city are Forte Stella, Forte Falcone and the recently restored Forte Inglese (english fort). In the dock of Portoferraio you will find Torre del Martello (hammer's tower) at the entrance to the old port.
There are also numerous other forts and buttresses creating an imposing defensive complex that is considered a true masterpiece of military architecture.
The town of Portoferraio has not developed a tourist vocation, partly due to its recent past as a steel industrial center: this aspect of its history has preserved its ancient urban structure. The recoveries of the fortresses that surround the town, carried out in recent years, retain all the magical charm of the ancient times.
Arriving in Portoferraio across the sea, the first thing you will see will be the Martello Tower with its imposing fortifications protecting the large horseshoe-shaped inlet behind it.
The Darsena Medicea is a highly secure port, so much so that it was classified as a port of refuge. For this reason, even in the days of impetuous wind and rough sea, the Darsena and the whole harbor welcome ships of considerable tonnage that drop anchor waiting for better weather. At the center of the Darsena is Porta a Mare, the entrance to the historic center of the city. All around, a crown of pastel-colored houses branches off, following the perimeter of the ancient walls. There are several attractions that you can visit in the city: the Napoleonic residence (Villa dei Mulini) and the Napoleonic Theater of the Vigilanti; the Archaeological Museum of Linguella, the Pinacoteca Foresiana , the Church of the Misericordi a, the Fortresses of Falcone and Stella and the last jewel, that is Forte Inglese . Not only history and culture, but an exceptional naturalistic heritage surrounds the city: paradisiacal beaches, the thermal park of San Giovanni and the promontories with breathtaking views await you to make your holiday unique and unforgettable.
Departure at 12:30 for Marciana Marina with the motorboat. Marciana Marina is the smallest settlement on the island; its origins are lost in the island's most ancient history, with evidence dating back to the Etruscan and Roman times.
Renown for the wine production, exported mainly to the ports of Liguria and Tuscany since the seventeenth century, in the 1960s Marciana Marina found its rightful place among the most famous and valued tourist resorts.
Today its territory hosts enchanting villas, invisible to prying eyes and surrounded by green hills or overlooking the coast. Marciana Marina, framed by Monte Giove to the west and Monte Perone to the east, represents one of the most evocative views of the island of Elba.
Its landscape is attractive and fascinating for those arriving from the sea; the villages of Poggio and Marciana set in Monte Capanne give the viewer a postcard-like panorama of extraordinary beauty. During the summer there are many opportunities for recreation and entertainment organized by the various clubs overlooking the sea.
