Departure at 08:30 from San Vincenzo towards Capraia Island. The island is the only structure of volcanic origin in the Tuscan Archipelago; it was formed about nine million years ago.
Approaching Capraia island, you can admire the "red and yellow" painted houses, a typical feature of the island. The island has a wild aspect; apart from the small inhabited area of the village, there are cliffs overlooking the sea, a freshwater lake, a stop for migratory birds in a natural reserve and mountains with characteristic Mediterranean flora.
A vital part of the island is the small port, where most of the shops, diving centers and travel agencies are located; there you can book raft or boat trips to explore the different areas of the island only reachable by sea.
The only road in the town, about 800 meters long, starts from the port and leads to the northern area of the island, the small town, a characteristic ancient village made of narrow stone streets and full of ancient churches. Going further on, you can reach the panoramic seesight called Punta Bella Vista and enjoy a wonderful view of the cliffs overlooking the sea.
From there you can choose one of the many paths leading throughout the island: descending through small streets, you will be able to reach many cliffs and beaches and swim in the crystal clear waters of Capraia. The most famous place are Cala di "San Francesco" (with easier access to the sea) and Cala "Il bagno” both reachable along a downhill road; for the more trained we suggest a walk to Cala dello Zurletto (5 km roundtrip).
At 17:30 departure from Capraia Island port towards San Vincenzo (arrival at 19:30).
Advice: hat, sunscreen, mask, swimsuit, beach towel, rock shoes, insect repellent, water, hiking shoes or simple sneakers. There are restaurants on the island but packed lunches are recommended, especially for those wishing to fully enjoy the stay.
